I was locked out of my car and have the one and only key in the ignition. I got into the car and started it and drove around came home and thought to my self I need a spare key.
Went to the locksmith had a key cut it was a #3 key. Got home started the car with my old key moved it to another spot in the driveway. Decided to check to make sure the new key would start the car and I had nothing. No start and no power tried my old key still have nothing. Turns out the key they gave me was a 5 instead of 3.
Now I can’t get anything to work waited the 5 minutes lights in the car will come on and when you put the original key in the ignition it kills all power to the car. I can’t even close my windows.
How do you reset the system?
Thanks
I know this is an old post and I'm not sure how to reset the system, but I too have locked myself out of my car. Both sets of keys are in the car. How did you get in? Through a door window? My situation occurred when I was dropping the spare tire carrier. I heard a few clicks and found the doors to be locked! Not sure why the locked, but I've asked about that in a separate thread posted today, 2/1/26.
If you have not solved your reset problem by now, let me know. I have a couple of repair manuals I could look at.
It was suggested on another forum that I shake the car. I did and the doors unlocked. I gave the driver rear quarter panel a slight nudge and the doors unlocked. I have removed the keys!
