O so i want to race my GF's dad's porsche. Just for fun of a race. She think he has a 911 Carerra 4 (not sure will find out later tongiht and post). So how would the race go? I am thinking he would win with just 20 years of technology ahead of me. But you know, just for fun......now the real question....who will my GF ride with?

I was driving to work one morning, merged off the freeway and I have this Porsche Boxster riding my ****. :mad

We come to the light at the bottom of the offramp and he's behind me, I figure I'm gonna show off and put this little boxster to shame right? WRONG! The light turns green I take off and then the road opens to two lanes, I'm WOT and this freekin’ red rocket flies by like I’m a flippin’ Hyundai, as he passed I realized it was a Carrera 4. :eek:

Now I really don’t think it’s fair for Porsche to make those front ends look identical, they made me look real stupid. :jester

The worst part was my wife was with me, as you can imagine, everyone at our work (we worked together at the time) had to hear the story. I never got to live that one down, especially since my boss was a major Porsche freak! :nonod:

 

I would rather get roasted by a Porche than a Honduh....yanno what I mean? :cheers:

Sorry but if it really is a 911 C4 you lose in any race: 1/4, autox, road course. Provided he's even just a decent driver.

But don't feel bad, most C4s would get spanked.

Actually if his Corvette is a Z51 he will beat him in a good twisty road course.
An '84 Z51 will out handle pretty much anything on the road..

Other than that, he will hand u ur butt from a stop or highway race..

I agree with the fellas here. You will lose to a 911 Carerra C4 however I bet you didn't spend as much to buy your vette plus the insurance to. With all that extra money you saved you can take your lady out for a nice sympathy diner.

Always try to find an upside to every situation. Let us know results...... of the race that is. :D

 

This month's road and track has the Carrera 4 Cabrio at 14 flat in the quarter and the 911 Carrera at 13.4.

LT1 with gears will ride with one.

:bs I have to call BS on this one. Not because of you jimb500, but of the magazines listing this BS. My friend has an 89 Carrera 4 and my LT1 with stock 3.07's has a LOT of trouble beating this car in the 1/4 mile. But in 1st and 2nd gear ( even though he has AWD ) I take him, and I pull hard. But in 3rd gear my car stops pulling like a freight train and he starts to pull on me alittle bit. I beat him 2 times in a row the last time we raced which was from a launch. The best races I have ever encountered and the most fun! I have an automatic, and your right... if I had 3.73's i would rape him severly ( and im getting those bad boys soon ). But all I'm saying is... My 96 auto w/ 3.07's can barely beat his 89 Carrera 4, and 84 w/ out SERIOS modifications done would get raped so badly... I wouldn't waste the gas. Back to the quote, Car and driver and all that mag crap don't know ANYTHING. If my friends 89 Porsche is this fast, jesus the new ones would spank him and LT1 ;). Oh I forgot my other good friends( i live in a rich town, to bad im not :( ) father has a BRAND new 2002 Carrera (which are faster) and that car moves like a freight train. The magazines don't know crap, its it makes me laugh when I read them. To bad my buddy in the 2002 can't drive for poopie, that car would be fun to run.

Another perspective. I had one by half a car length 0-70ish. It was a 996, not sure of the year, and I have an LT4 with exhaust. We were ~equal.

I would like an 89 911 but I don't want to sell the LT4 for a slower car... :nono:

On the way home from NYC, I was playin with an S4 Porsche, these things are quick, but he just didnt have the power the LT4 had... but that was at speeds of 130+ at some points... they deserve respect but the LT4 will take em with a halfway decent driver without too much trouble. I think an LT1 with a few mods would give em a good run.

 

Naaa, You just need to pull a little sneaky and borrow someone's ZR1 and really put a spankin on em!! Alls Fair and all that
