prom, ecm, or both
i have an 86 with a bummed ecm and i think even a bummed prom as well. its the ama 8848 for a manual 86.
its going into “limp mode”. meaning fan comes on, ses light on, solid, no ability to connect to data line on aldl.
i removed the board from the case, if i press on the prom or gently apply pressure the fan syops, and communication with ecm via aldl is capable.
i tried reflowing the pins that the prom pushes into. didnt seem to make a difference. im quite sure its either the prom, the socket, or both. if i press hard and sort of apply a twisting pressure, the communication iss is resolved. soon as i let go, its no comms again.
