well it has been minute sine ive been on here at all, last summer the 96 LT1 gave up the temporary seal that the head gasket sealant was taking care of. so it sat...I pretty mechanically minded but have never stripped motor down to inspect head and gasket and all that...finally got owner of Co i work for to hook me up with his classic car mechanic and got moved to front of line. Again reinforcing " it not what you know but who you know", that was 5 weeks ago i had it towed to his garage. he tore it apart , had heads sent to shop to test for cracks, it came back good, replace head gasket, plugs, plug wires, water pump, whole slew of brittle about to crumble harness connectors as well as some wiring and couple sensors, also did valve job and even recharged the AC. prior to it croaking, I always had leak of fluid underneath. got her back yesterday and it is solid again. did laps up GA 400 for about hour in hi 90deg temps and coolant temp moved some but stayed in that mid to upper 190s and some low 200s. got it back in garage, tucked her in for the night and slipped every piece of cardboard I could find underneath and in morning they were all dry as a bone. VICTORY! gonna give her some detail lovin this weekend and for sure gonna be back enjoying her! shes got 75,443 miles on her now and hope to keep for long time. she is back!
Sounds like you found a good mechanic who knows what they're doing, refreshing to hear these days!!! I feel for everyone who is at the mercy of repair shops! Spread the word and stay faithful to their services...too many crooks, not enough good ones anymore! Happy for you, beautiful corvette👍
Probably a half dozen others. All the connector bodies have numbers and/or manufacturing info on them. Sometimes it takes a magnifying glass (literally) to see it. An example of where they might be hidden...
Curious how long your “temporary gasket sealant” actually held. I had to replace my head gaskets back in April but it wasn’t entirely successful. Out of frustration I added a bottle of Bars Leak. Now the engine is tight as a ducks ***, just wondering how much time I brought.
