Hey everyone! Not officially an owner yet but intend to pick up my ‘88 next weekend. It’s gonna be a project car for sure (it was a barn find) but I think worth it. 35th Anniversary, less than 10k on the od and believe it or not, a build number under 100. So, I think it’s worth saving. Glad to be a member and I’m sure I’ll find all the help/answers I need.

So, drove 4.5 hours to a dealership in PA and sadly, I think the car is just a tad too much (prove and work). I knew ahead of time that it was a “barn find” but I just saw a ton of work. I mean, the car only has 10,500 original miles and badge number 0043 but def needs a a ton of TLC. I wanted a project but not sure if that is the one. It ran and sounded great, all original but just don’t know if I should pull the trigger on it.
You have probably answered your own question. A 10k mile 35th Anniversary car may have a wonderful mental image, but it sounds as if that image and reality don’t match up very well and the restoration is beyond what you are willing to undertake. Best wishes on whichever direction you choose to go.
Actually looked at the CarFax too- definitely wasn't a "one owner" car and just like I suspected when I saw it, it had two previous front end damages. I think I made the right choice in passing on it.
Ok- so the car came back on the market and the dealership made me a great offer- so I bought it. Yes, it will take work, but, it will be a great father/son project since my other son helps with the sailboat. It’s actually not in too bad a shape (previous owner actually had new 35th seat covers!). Gets delivered Sept 6th!
A few pics. Luckily the PO included all new seat covers from Top Flight Automotive. It runs pretty good, def needs the fluids changed and a lot of TLC, but should be a fun project for me and my two kids.
