When I put Bilsteins on my "84 I could only get the B6 for the front. The B8 is still available for the rear.
Here is what I posted 7/18/2024. Replaced the PO installed KYB shocks on my '84 Z51 with proper Bilsteins. B8's in the rear and B6's in the front as they are no longer available in B8. It stood rather tall after lowering the QJ but a quick drive over a local bumpy road and all is good. I can really tell the differance in the rebound of the rear shocks. No more bouncy house.
That makes me wonder now! Zip’s, Ecklers ,ect all sell complete sets for the Z51 are they all B8’s or a mix like you have? Guess I’m going to have to inquire.
Found this on another forum looks like the Z51 with FG3 shock option like mine came with B6 on the front and B8 on the rear.
When the C4 came out, the standard shocks were Delco. That lasted for several years before Bilsteins became standard equipment (I think it was 89 or 90).
During that time, there was an option for Delco-Bilstein shocks, RPO FG3, and that used these Bilstein part numbers:
Front: 24-002288 (Sport) Rear: 24-192927 (HD)
If the car was equipped with Z51, you got FG3 with a different rear shock (24-184588).
So, if you want to equip your car with the Z51 Bilstein setup, then order these part numbers:
