Anyone ot any thoughts, or had experience in repairing one of these. I have a 92 and the CD doesn't work at all. I see a number of places that advertise on Ebay to repair these, and I thought I'd check and maybe benefit from any other member's experience, if any.
More than likely, the general response you'll get here is to just replace it with an aftermarket setup. The Bose is known to go out alot. If your speakers and amps still work, you can often make a pretty penny selling the speakers and amps on E-bay. If the CD Player worked, that whole item is worth sometimes over $300.00 itself.
I was thinking about doing the same thing, I was just a little confused about what it included, if the replacement of the CD was included in the price, or if correcting err messages, meant adjustments. The other thing I was considering, and curious about, is whether a replacement CD mechanism would play CDRs. I think that in that case it might be more money. I'd be very interested in some info as to how it all works out, if you don't mind.

Just about any CD player will play CDRs, as long as they are recorded in CD Audio format. I haven't had problems playing them in my stock unit. :yesnod:
That's great to know. I never had a working CD in my 92 so I couldn't try a CDR. Any other auto CD player I've used has been much newer, so I didn't know if it was a CD palyer "age" that made the difference. Also, the enclosed email reply I got from Dr Dons, threw me off.
