1996 LT4 Code P1371
Battery was disconnected from car for about a month we were working on interior items. Battery was reconnected and started car. Check engine light came on and car's idle would go from 600 to 1000. Took it for a ride and engine would feel like it was surging. After the ride the idle smoothed out to a steady 600 rpm. Checked for codes and P1371 (low resolution signal) came up. From what we found on internet it seems to be Opti spark related not necessarily the Opti itself. I am trying not to reinvent the wheel so is there a best practice for troubleshooting this? I do not want to just replace parts till it works. Thanks in advance.

Update: Unconnected and reconnected the ignition control module and restarted the car and the “Check Engine Soon” light went out. Took it for a spin and car reached 5000 rpm’s without an issue. Not confident this solved the issue so will take the car out for a longer aggressive drive later this week and see what happens.
