Open driver's door, on the door near the latch mechanism is a rocker switch
Open passenger side door, also a rocker switch
Crawl over seats into hatch area. With kid gloves, remove Phillips screws then middle section of plastic trim. Thin piano wire cable about 3 inches long is connected to the latch, pull wire
Battery and interior fuses must be good for the door switches or console button to power the solenoid to pop the hatch

You don't (actually you can't with the glass closed) remove the trim piece. The manual release cable is between the carpet and the bottom of the security shade on the passenger side of center line. It is about 6" long, dig around in there with your finger, and fish it out. Then pull on it to trip the glass.
