Just wanted to ask if anyone has replaced the outer door seals on a 93-96 C4. All my weather stripping is pretty perfect except the drivers door outer seal. I know from videos you have to remove the door skin but wanted to gage the difficulty? Any advice?
Thx
Not that bad, just follow the vids and take your time, tape up the paint on the door in case you slip and when drilling the old rivets out put some tape on drill bit so you don't go to deep and hit the outer skin.
Not hard at all. The new ones will come with tree-clips already installed. The most important thing is that you get high quality door seals. You absolutely do not want to just go buy a set off eBay or Amazon. There are a bunch of manufacturers that make these seals at half the cost, and they just don't fit well. I don't even know how they get away with it because in some cases you can't even shut the door. If it's too good to be true (cheaper than everyone else), don't buy them, I hate to say it.
i will do some digging on any Videos on this...I did hear that you have to drill out some rivets which concerns me.I do not have the proper tools or experience to re-rivet... I was going to purchase my door seals from The Corvette Rubber Co.

When I owned a C4 what you mentioned with the drill bit, I used rubber hose to slide over the bit so it can only cut the rivet, and not damage anything else cause bit can't go further.

I've done this both inside and outside door belt molding on both of my 96's now.
I drilled out the three rivets with a 3/16 bit. I cut a piece of vacuum hose and left only 1/2" of the bit exposed. This is called a bit stop.
Once they are drilled out, pull up a bit at a time going down and back along the molding until it is off.
With the new, I placed tape where the clips go (see picture). Then I pressed up and down the molding again so as not to bend it. Once it was on, I used the rivets shown in the last pic.
Take your time, use a little patience and you will be fine.
Hope this helps.
Thanks. Every little bit of info helps...The sad part is the outer seal is actually in awesome condition (Like rest of the car-only 27k miles and always stored in garage) but the seal had a small edge rip on the very edge and is now missing like a 1/2 inch of the rubber and of coarse i see it every time I get into the car!
