I know this will only show my ignorance, but I just bought a 1986 Corvette Pace car and wanted to know whether they came out of the factory with clearcoat finish. I'm going to be buying Zaino and need to know which polish formula to use on the finish. Also would like opinions on Zaino's leather care products. Thanks.

Re: Clearcoat (midget)
I don't know the answer to your question.
This forum is so huge, no matter what question you ask, someone else out there doesn't know the answer to it either. You are always doing someone a favor when you ask a question about corvettes.
Zaino rules. Go to the Car care products section and the'll tell you everything you need to know about Zaino. I've used it on my 91's exterior and think its great. I haven't tried their leather products yet.
Yep...it's clear coated. You can get a lot of info in the car care products forum, but for me, it was clay bar, z1, several coats of z2 (add the zfx to speed things up), and follow up with z6. Follow the directions carefully...key is to only use about 1/4 of what you "think" is the right amount (a little goes a long way!).
Cut the z6 with 50% distilled H20, do small areas at a time and use 2 towels...one to wipe on...one to wipe off. It took me a while to get the hang of the Z6 (after some expert advice received here) but the time and trouble is well worth it! & congrats on the '86PC
Its all clearcoat except the bumpers but dont change the polish because of that. The reason for not clearing the bumpers had something to do with them being rubber/polyurethane.I dont quite understand it but I think the paint technology was not that great back then. :seeya
