Default Need ideas to solve weird problem

After finally getting my vortech supercharged 95 finished after 2 years, I've been driving it everywhere. It ran flawlessly, scary fast, but here comes something I can't figure out. I crank it up cold, the engine makes about 3 revolutions and bam, fires right up. Drive it for a half hour, runs beautiful, stop for a while, then it cranks forever doesn't start. Fuel pressure is 42 psi. Here's the kicker, if I shut the key off then restart it, it fires right up. Drive for a while, stop, same scenario. It's been running fantastic . I'm wondering if the VATS or PKE is screwing up. Is there a way to eliminate the security system all together or rule it out as a problem. I got home today after unit did it again and tried putting the fob and the key close together and it seems to be a lot better, but still intermittently won't fire right up. I changed the battery in the fob and it doesn't seem to change. I only have one key for the car so I can't try a different key. The security light wasn't on when it wouldn't start. It doesn't throw any codes but my computer was reprogrammed or "burned" by the dyno shop. Scratching my head and don't want to get stuck with a tow bill. Everything on the car is new or rebuilt. Complete ground up restored. Any ideas or how to access the codes, my scanner won't work on the 95.

You don’t mention the injectors, is it possible one or more is leaking while the car sits? This would cause the problem you describe. Easiest way to check is hook up a fuel pressure gauge and watch the pressure over 20 minutes after engine shut down. If it drops, check injectors for leaking. If not check elsewhere. Hope this helps, good luck with the repair.

I have 40 psi on the fuel gauge that's installed on the car. I start it once its fine, shut it off, wait a few minutes and it just cranks no start. Turn key off then on, and it starts like it should. Injectors are new, stock fuelpump is feeding t-rex fuel pump for supercharger which i can hear running. It's almost like something is stopping the spark when it happens then turn key on and off it works again. I started carrying the fob with me and have had problems in the past with the pke going on and off and the horns beeping all day in the garage for no reason.

At this point I would just be pulling ideas out my A$$ but you could try cleaning the contacts on the ignition key. A poor connection maybe?? Sorry I can't be more help.

It could be a faulty ignition switch.

I'm going to try to put a test light on the coil while cranking, that should eliminate ignition switch? But not eliminate a security system malfunction? Could a bad key cause this? What are the chances that the power gets to the starter but not the coil, but after turning key off then on, it works. 🤔 this is a head scratcher. Just when you think you're finally done something else pops up. I've never owned a car with so many glitches. All summer not one problem then a trip to the gas station and kablammo, problem. 😄

See if this helps when it comes to pulling codes on your 95

Today I went to fill up with gas and I noticed the T-Rex fuel pump was running a longer time after shutting the car off, its usually a couple seconds now it was about 8 seconds and sounded weird. Also, when I took the gas cap off there's usually a lot of pressure stored, nothing today. I'm wondering if my in tank pump isn't working all the time and the aux pump is trying to pull the fuel through the in tank pump. My pressure gauge sending units screwed to the Schrader valve. So how should I go about checking the in tank pump? Should I but a test guage and disconnect the fittings on the valve and disconnect the T-Rex pump then turn the key on and see if I get pressure? The in tank Delphi pump feeds the T-Rex pump then it goes to the fuel rail. So in order to read just the stock pump i have to totally undo all the hoses and try just the tank pump. I have 40 psi when it's running but cranking seems to take time to build pressure. T-Rex pump new is around $400 and a new Delphi pump is almost the same. Should I get a rock auto cheaper in tank pump and try it? Trying to figure out which of the two pumps are weak or not working to par. They're both more than 5 years old and the only thing I haven't changed. The lack of pressure in the tank is what's drawing me to one or both of the pumps. I've never tried to start the car with just the stock pump, but the aux pump sounds weird like it's under a load which led me to think it's pulling fuel through a non working tank pump. Also the vortech fuel management unit was replaced with an adjustable regulator and a Hobbs unit to increase the pressure under boost. Why all of a sudden there's no pressure in the tank when there was always before is throwing me off. Can't afford to throw money at it, so it's back to the drawing board and another winter of working on something that's supposed to be made to enjoy. It's almost as bad as having a wife.
