1992 corvette
Would you guys recommend waterless car wash sprays? I was thinking about picking some up to use on my corvette.
My car spends 90-95% of the time in the garage so it’s not dirty by any means, I’m not looking for a full on wash/detail(I’ll take it to someone when that’s the case) but I wouldn’t mind cleaning a few spots and it seems like the waterless car wash spray would be a good easy option!
If anybody has any opinions/suggestions or tips I’d love to hear them!
thank you

Thanks for the response you guys!
I have a soft top and am quite wary about spraying down my car, I know that may sound silly but I’d rather leave that to the “professionals” and somebody is my neighborhood actually has a detailing business that specializes in corvettes! That’s why I was thinking waterless car wash just to get some spots! I’ll add a pic of what I’m trying to clean at the moment!
I’ve never heard of Griots before but the reviews look pretty stellar!(and that’s a fantastic looking car SEVNT6). This is my first corvette/fiber glass body car I’ve had so that’s another reason I’m somewhat wary to do much work on her - she is all original/low miles!

When I get back from a cruise I'll use bug remover spray first & then Speed Shine. I'm the only person who's ever touched the paint....bought her new..

And I just noticed...welcome to the forum!..

Oh wow original owner that’s rad and it’s a beautiful color!
I look forward to my speed shine arriving and seeing how good it works!
I appreciate the reply’s!
If you're just trying to knock the dust off of it, a spray detailer works fine too. Otherwise, wash the car. A nice foam cannon to minimize the touching of the car and to get suds on it to loosen stuff up first is nice.

I’ll take what you’re saying into consideration, I plan to only use it for small spots here and there but will definitely use on a small spot first and get a feel for it. When it comes to full on washing the car I plan to take it to a detailer when that time comes(should be soon as I’ve had the car over a year lol)

Be wary and cognizant of the micro-fiber towels you use. I bought a pack off Amazon and was wiping the 92 down in sunlight and noticed that there seemed to be a lot of micro scratches that I didn't remember. I took a swipe with the cloth and scratches followed it. Those went in the rag box with the grease rags. I've used a bunch of Kirkland (Costco) micro fiber cloths and they don't scratch.
I have a 993 Cabriolet I've owned for 3 years. I've never washed it because I don't allow it to get dirty. But the original cloth top is looking a bit drab. I'd like to clean and treat it, but I won't allow anything like top treatments to touch the paint. Someday I'm going to have to do something to treat the top, my plan is to put plastic over the windshield bow and side windows and close the top on it. Then mask the portion across the rear to plastic so water and chemicals will run down the plastic to the ground and nothing touches the paint. You could do the same with your 92, it would be easier because you can close the rear bow on the plastic too. I can't. Cheers.
The paint is fine. I have it looking pretty good. The top needs attention.
Good tip with the microfibers! I love Costco so I’ll definitely pick up a pack when I’m there again!
When it comes to full on washing the car/doing treatment on the soft top etc I leave that to the detailers lol! I sure hope when you do clean/treat the soft top it goes well…. It’s a fantastic looking car!
I like using the waterless wash sprays (or detailer sprays) for doing light touch-up work, like with bugs on the front bumper or for bird droppings. Those sprays do work good for that.
What I would recommend to you is to pick up a car duster. California Duster, Griots Dusters, etc. Something like this: Car Duster. If you have a clean car and a good coat of wax, this is great for getting the garage dust off the car. I do re-apply a quick coat of spray wax about once a month during the driving season just because.
I’ve never used spray wax or anything of that kinda stuff but after I get the car a good detail inside and out(by a professional) I’ll get there opinion on up keep what I should be doing etc than see if you guys agree!
