Differential Drain Plug

Default Differential Drain Plug
1994 Corvette - drained the diff with no issues, drain plug came right out. However, it does not want to go all the way back in, gets about 3/4 of the way and it gets very tight. I don't want to snap the bolt.

Is this the way it is supposed to be for the red tag that goes on there? If not, does anyone know the part number so I can try a new differential drain plug?

I's not a bolt it's a tapered pipe plug. When it is tight you should still see threads exposed.
