I've seen a lot of bitching about winter on the forum over the years and especially THIS winter. I see alot of comments from the southerners like how do you deal with it.
First of all living in the NE we get 4 seasons which is nice and 4 is better than 1 or 2 seasons :D
I figure if it's going to be cold, there may as well be snow on the ground. I also have a snow blower and a 4X4 pickup to deal with it. :p:
On this last snow I lost a day of work BUT I got to play with some of my other toys :D
Open top vette season can go from April to October :yesnod:
November to March we can still drive our vettes :smash:
December to March we have some time periods of snow when when the vettes stay put BUT that 's a great time for mods, maintenance, cleaning up and keeps some miles off. It's also a good time for home improvement projects so when the warm weather does arrive you feel less gulity going for a cruise. :blueangel:
Right now I am jonesing to go for a cruise, it's been about 2 weeks since the last but that wouldn't be for about another week due to the snow and salt :(
BUT when that happens you feel like that first time you drove your VETTE :steering:
AND that's how I deal with living in the NE
I have to agree. the first tiem i drive my car after the winter is the Best feeling i ever get.... uhh hope my wife doesnt read this.. I just cant stop grinning ear to ear for about a month. I even wake up easier when i have to go to work so i can wipe off the wheels and get her warmed up.. On the downside i just finished shovelling about 1 1/2 feet of snow off my driveway.... with the size of my drieveway it took me 2 hours. I HATE WINTER. Does anyone know how much it snows in Cleveland???? I go there for the Indy every year and im interested in moving... at least that way shipping things into canada wont be so expensive!!
Actually... now that i think of it... I dont hate winter. It gives me time to save up my money and do some mods over the break. Its kinda fun when you street race so much because all of my friends always have something up their sleeves over the winter for their vettes. Makes it interesting when spring comes. :yesnod:
Yeah I've been living in NY now for about 5 years. I made a move up here back in 1998 from Alabama. Made a college transfer up here to further my college education at RIT. All I know is I just wonder to myself sometimes what in the hell am I doing up here ??? !!! I have never seen so much lake effect snow and cold weather. The winters can be unbearable at times but as long as my vette is in the garage then I'm ok. It gives me the opportunity to doll her up when I can and improve her in ways. I will move back down to where its warmer eventually. Probably in another 2 years or so. when that happens then I'm outta here ! :flag
Normally I don't mind the winter. Like you say it's down time for mods and such. But this year it's killing me. I can't wait for spring already. I'm sick of shoveling snow!!! Come on Spring...
mods?? never mind mods... it gives me time to fix any little things that happened during the summer and gets it back in prime cruising condition... Im on my way out right now to change out the battery wih a new AC Delco I purchased yesterday from the dealer. (want to keep it stock). I still have to replace my driver side window because of these little scratches from the little bumper pads being worn out. :( Other than that, YES I HATE THE WINTER! I dont think I will come back to NY again when I finish my tour up here. You mentioned seasons...but many places have seasons, just milder winters. Pennsylvania (where I just was living for 4 years) is much milder and hardly any snow, its warm(not hot) most of the year and awesome vette driving weather... thats my hope...to move back to PA (even though it is expensive).
All in all, both have their good and bad sides, but its hard sometimes waiting in anticipation for nice weather! You are absolutely correct though...when you do get to drive it after being stored for so long theres nothing like it! :yesnod: It feels like you just bought a new car!
Yes, I hate winter too! Skiing a couple times a week doesn't make up for the cold! I'd be happy if it only lasted from Dec to Feb! That would be enough~
