Does anyone have a source and price for the tire pressure sticker in the driver's door jamm, the one that says something about not driving at speeds over 140. I can't seem to find a place that sells them. My car had the door jamms painted and the sticker is missing. Anyone have a picture of this sticker and its location.
You might serch the archives. I have seen this in an old post and it was the first time I ever saw it. Not sure if it's being reproduced but I'd like one too..... :seeya
These stickers were printed at the assembly plant and the data is specific to each car. Between the two stickers the printed data are the VIN, tire and wheel sizes, load carrying capacity, tire pressures, the specific shipping weight and front and rear axle weights.
The printer font is a ASCII line printer style like that used on mainframe high-speed impact printers like the IBM 1403 or UNISYS 770's. If your car has the RPO sticker under the console lid, you can see what the character font is like.
I have never seen these sticker for sale anywhere, even at GM. They wouldn't be any good if they were available as blanks as you would have to have the correct data for them and find a way to print on them.
I've got the same issue..... door replaced sometime in the past.... no sticker.
When I had my 84 painted, I gave the painter EXPLICIT instructions to PRESERVE the door sticker. He did. Can't tell the door panel was even painted at the sticker. It was about the only place he did an outstanding job, though.
Wish I had one for my '91.
I guess we 'could' recreate one with our computers... but it would take some research/trial & error.
Probably not too much demand for this item but it sounds like something the Corvette Museum could get involved in IF there was enough demand to make it worthwhile.
HTRK-1 asked the same question over on Jeff's forum. Jeff's reply was that the stickers are not serviced (not available).
Guess this could be a warning to C4 owners who are going to have their car painted and the door jambs done. Make sure the painter covers all the factory door stickers. Once they are painted over or removed and tossed, that's it, they're gone.
What I would do is take a digital camera close up picture of one with the macro turned on. Then bring it into photoshop and edit/modify the values. Then you could print it out, laminate it and put it back on.
Seems the only viable option for having one at all.
I like that idea IROC, Hopefully someone will chime in withe a picture. I thought I saw it for sale at corvette central, but that was the decals on the wheels themselves. I do have the RPO sticker under my glovebox lid. Any pictures would be appreciated.
Like was mentioned before, I have Jeff at supperior looking into it, if he comes up with anything. I'll keep you guys updated. Sounds like a lot of people would be interested.
I got a message from Jeff at Superior and he has a listing for the "high speed driving" Sticker, but he said it is only listed for 94-96. Does anyone with an 93 or older have this sticker in place?
