One obvious untruth in his hype: " car make(r)s must limit horsepower due to legal restrictions..."). Total, unadulterated horse-puckey.
I wouldn't put this resistor on my car if he paid ME.
This is the same type of shyster who sells a 12V defroster fan as an "electric supercharger!!".
I just read this on ebay and am wondering what it is, and how much of a croc is this guy giving? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...&category=1256

There were no pictures, but he claimed his "resistor" would give up to 20HP on a 350 small block and the current bid price was around 4 dollars. He claimed it can be installed in about 10 minutes.

Sounds like the IAT tricker. It's quite simple, really. Since the sensor that measures incoming air temperature (IAT) measures it by resistance, and the computer reads that resistance and decides what amount of spark advance and such to apply, an optimum amount of resistance can be applied to take advantage of this. By putting the resistor into the IAT sensor, it reads the ideal air temperature for incoming air, regardless of the actual temperature. Then it advances and everything like it would optimally. I believe that the resistor makes the computer read that the incoming air is 20* F. I could be wrong on that. I've heard mixed reports about this mod. Some cars it helps, and some it doesn't. It's mostly an LS1 F-Body mod. You can try it yourself if you like, but if it nets you anything in power, it won't even be noticeable. I think it is something around 2 FWHP on an LS1.
