I'm posting this here as well as the Tech. section- sorry if i've violated any rules. I've conducted numerous searches, but only pull up a few threads. I've heard that the Kumho's are among the best "bang for the buck" tires out there, but i'm being told lots of things by everybody at the shops. A friend of mine at a tire shop is trying to get me to go with BFG G-Force "KDW"s. He says they're right up there with the best- but i really just want a good tire that will last, and deliver good performance. Commuting mostly. I'm thinking i'd like to get an alignment too, just to be safe. So anyway, he says he can do these tires with an alignment for about $950. Too much? What'll you all expect to pay for comperable rubber? BTW- i guess i'll go with the stock sizes at 255/45R17 (front) and 285/40R17 (rear). Is this correct, or should i look into any other sizes? Sorry for all the questions, but the info is very, very much appreciated.
Hi NEW77GUY,
Just wanted to give you a heads up. I bought my Michelin Pilot Sports over the internet from http://www.tiredlr.com in Gardena , Ca. I saved nearly $500.00 on a set of 4 - 255/40x17 frt. and 285/35x18 rears delivered to my door.
Their phone number is (888)310-4967. I spoke with a gal named Flory and again with a guy named John. Nice people !! By the way , that is an awesome tire !
I have the GeForces. They are good tires. I paid $650 for a four of mine though. They hook good and wear slow. I do need to get new rear tires though. I'll probably get the same tires.

I just tried this site and couldn't find the Pilot Sports. How much did you pay for all 4?

Damn....that's an awesome price. Where they the "KDW" tires, or the "KDWS" tires? There's quite a difference in price, and tread pattern/and or performance from what i'm told.
Kumho is the way to go if you want good tires and save money. I haven't heard a bad comment about them yet. Tirerack.com rank them very high.
You can get a set installed for around $600. check tirerack.com, I believe they have one of the best prices. Many Discount tire stores will match tirerack price plus shipping and mounting, all you need to do is print out the price for the tires you want and bring them to the store.
They are KDWS, but you could get the KDW for about $850 or Khumo Ecsta Supra 712's for about $500. I wish I got the KDW, I wasn't sure if I was going to drive mine in the rain or not (didn't have my blazer yet). But know that I'm looking at prices, I might try putting the Khumo's on the rear. Those tire prices are for 275/40/17 all around. My KDWS where for 255/50/16.
[QUOTE]Khumo Ecsta Supra 712's for about $500. QUOTE]Kumho ECSTA MX are better tires than the 712, Z rated too. 712a don't have the 285/40-17 size. MX is a bit more expensive, of course.
I have Generals on the front and BFG drag radials on the back. But I don't plan for the rears to last that long anyway. But hey; it's good for what I do.
