I just bought an 86 Vette from Michigan (I live in PA) and during transfer the title came up missing. Now, the dealer has to file a lost title form in order to get it replaced. Does anyone know how long this takes? I can't get the car registered until I get the title. I am not happy with the dealer over this, but they assure me it's easily fixable. With Spring here and nice weather due to arrive I want to drive my car NOW! I hope this doesn't take a month or more. :mad
Your dealer should have been able to provide you with a temporary registration, which will allow you to continue to drive your new Vette.
Depending upon the state, times could vary, but generally, it should not take more than a couple weeks before the dealer is mailed the new title, and he in turn, should contact you letting you know it has arrived. He/they will then, transfer the title information to the new owner, give you the title, and you in turn, register the car with you as the new registered/legal owner.
