Every time it rains I get water in from the front corners of the windows. It usually runs along the edge of the dash and pours in all over. I hear this is rather common among the c4 and even saw a book for $20 on how to fix this. Any suggestions on how to stop the flood? These leaks occur with only a light rain.
It really has to rain HARD for mine to leak(or going to a high pressure car wash). It's common on windows that don't have frames around them to leak just a little.
Maybe you can adjust the windows to go up a little tighter to see if that helps.
According to the 1993 CCT (Certified Corvette Technician) Corvette Waterleak Diagnosis & Repair Manual, GM recognizes five (5) major types of waterleaks. They are: 1) top panel to retainer, 2) glass to weatherstrip, 3) weatherstrip to weatherstrip joints, 4) top panel to weatherstrip & 5) retainer to body.
To identify which leak you may have, the manual advises someone sits inside the vehicle with a flashlight while another person runs water from a simple garden hose over the locations listed above. They advise using only a small stream of water - not to create a flood! :nonod:
If you could identify which location is your problem, I could possibly send you information regarding repair (if your leak is the glass to weatherstrip area - you are NOT going to like the extensive repair steps!).

:iagree: ...ASSUMING the weather stripping's in decent shape...that should help...but it won't totally stop it. I just carry a terry wash cloth under the seat and "wedge" it up to absorb the water in heavy rain.
Don't bother with the book... I bought it expecting help on the same leak area as you. It gives "general" water leak and wind noise solutions along with specific solutions for some C3 problem areas.
High probability just replacing the weatherstrip won't solve your problem (it didn't for me). The trick is to take off the roof front w/s and then take off the w/s rails (one on each side of the windshield and one on the top) and reseal them. This is where the water leaks -- believe it or not. After you've done this you may have to adjust the door glass for best results.
If you have any other specific ?'s, ask 'em here or shoot me an email...
One other item you might want to check is your door hinge. Open door, reach down and
see if you can wiggle the door on it's hinges. If so, your door(s) are drooping when you
open them and when you close you door, the window is not meeting the weatherstrip
properly and the resulting gap is the source of your water intrusion.
Check it. I just finished rebuilding one of my hinges with this same water leak issue.
Mid America Mtrs has a Door Hinge Pin & Bushing Rebuild Kit for about $20 that
solves this problem.
Good Luck.
Hilariously, this is information I was about to post about So now I know!
Glad I injected a suggestion that I had not seen on any of the other
forum water leak threads about door hinge(s) being the culprit. Hope others benefit even if it was a 10 year old thread.
