I'm tired of the rubber liners of the cupholders in my car. They always start curving in and makes it near impossible to put a drink in them. I saw some metal ash trays that go in there and would be nice but I can't put a drink in them. Do they make any good aftermarket holders or do I have to stick with replacing the originals every couple months? :banghead:
From my experience, you can only fit cans and paper cups in there. So what I do is buy the plastic bottles and keep it between my legs or on top of teh ebrake leaning against the seat. This way you have a cap on it and no chance of spillage when you are driving it hard.
They do have some kind of cup holder in Mid America for automatic cars only.
Yeah go figure on that one.........those engineers types....... :jester ........Opps did I say that........poopie .....Is there egg on my face........ :lolg:
Pep Boys had a "cup holder expander" last time I was there. Sort of like a funnel or cone shape made to fit in a small (like ours) holder & expand it. I almost bought it. It was all of $3.00 or so.
But I thought it might be a little stupid looking, maybe not. I'll buy it & post a pic & see what people think. :flag

Why buy a new one, just put an empty coke can in them and leave them in the sunlight a a day, and they are fixed.

I was thinking about something along similar lines but didn't think it would work.
I think using sunlight & heat to reform the rubber should work.
In fact I have two rubber holders so a passenger can have a cup holder too. When someone is riding the ash tray goes into the console and butts go out the window. :bb
Never drink anything while driving my vette........nor will I let passanger's drink...including my "Better Half".....

ps:
Guess I'm alot Anul!!!!!!!!!!
:smash:
I am definatley a drink **** in the car. No open containers in the vette. Bottles are another story though. Plus my company makes the plastic that they make the bottles out of, so I am supporting a good cause, me :)

Re: cupholders? (Lord Odin)
I learned the hard way, the first nice weekend after buying my 96, I grabbed can of diet pepsi, put it in the cup holder and proceeded to hit it with my hand as I went to shift in to reverse (6-speed car). FORTUNATELY, no DP on my seats or carpet - I have a light gray interior.
Definitely need the bottles of pop and lean on the e-brake as mentioned above.
hmm...I pulled the rubber lining out of mine and leave it out. Fits a coke can just perfectly now. :D
:iagree: I pulled the rubber liner out completely. Fits my bottled water very nicely now in the rare event that I do have a drink in the vette. I leave the cap on when I am not drinking, but even if I did spill a drop or two I dont think the water would do much damage (unless I used the local NY tap water) haha   :D

If you install a ripper shifter you can use those cup holders and not worry about 6th or reverse. :yesnod:
Mine has one ash tray, one cup holder. I remvoed the rubber piece from the cup holder, now I can put anything put the "biigie" drinks in there. The ash tray allows me to store the extra change (damn pennies)
