I just looked at a Polo Green- tan interior w/32K miles.
The car is in super condition - 1 owner, both tops. They are asking
23k - is the price too high? It was a trade in on a '03 anniv. edition.
Yes it's an LT4 car which makes it more desirable, but the mileage is way too low, that car should have at least 96,000 miles on it. A babied car is a piece of crap in my opinion.
If you figure that my '93 cost $15,500 with 36,000 miles, add another $2k for the newer car and maybe another $1500 for LT4 and it's still less than 20k.
This is just my opinion, if you got the cash and must have it, I say go for it.
I agree with Frank on the price being too high. I'd say $20K is a good deal.
As far as babied cars being crap, well, that's his opinion. My red car has 32K miles on her and runs like a top. The GS has 23K miles and runs like a top. Some people don't get to drive their cars everyday.
In my area it would be a decent price subject to other condition factors. A low mileage LT4 with docs and options recently went for 27k at a Corvette dealer near me.
I see nothing wrong with lower mileage cars. Some people can't drive more than one at a time. :D
Price may be a bit high, but its a dealer, so they'll always be looking for the home run. Offer about 3k less and go from there.
Low mileage= crap? Well, I'm not sure I agree with that either. Hell, my car has 7700 miles on it. Smells, looks, and drives like a brand new Corvette. Absolutely no leaks, squeaks, rattles or temperment of any kind. I AM using it for purely fun, recreational driving (it had 6400 when I bought it in September, so I've put 1300 on when weather/time allowed). I think you have to assess each car as it is, what it is, and follow your instincts. No doubt there ARE some lo mile Vettes out there that are junk, but I don't think you can make that a blanket indictment. Just my opinion. Good luck!
Mileage makes no difference, low or high...maintenance is the key, as long as it was well maintained it's a good buy. As for the price, it may be a bit high, but it's certainly not an outrageous price, do a little negotiation and settle on something you're comfortable with
It depends alot on where you live and what the market is for that type of car. Around here that's about right, especially since its spring (tis the season for sports cars). Also, IMO the desirability (?) of the LT4 ensures the seller that someone would pay a premium (again worthy of the premium imo). Question is, how bad do you want it?
Just paid 22k from a private party with 15,000 miles. Had been looking for a while. Most LT4's I looked at were 7-15k miles higher and 2-3k more dollars.
I just paid 18 for my LT4 - private party. 48k miles, sport seats, elec a/c, black/gray, almost perfect cond.
A dealer will be higher, if you go at month end with no trade in/cash he'll likely take 2 - 3 less. If he doesn't then he's not a dealer, he's starting a museum.
If you really want it and he'll take 20 - 21 I'd pull the trigger. If he stands firm on 23K I'd (personally) keep looking. :flag

Re: LT4 question? (Vette Ed)
Vette magazine May '03 price guide says: LT4 Excellent: 23K Good: 20K Average: 16.5K (this is for a coupe - verts are about 4K higher). They also add $500 for Z51 option. :blueangel:
sounds like a really nice low miles car...
as everyone else says it kinda depends on your area, and it is now sports car season. you probably will not get it as cheap from a dealer as you could from a private seller, but a similar car could be hard to find from a private seller that is close to you.
hopefully they will be willing to negotiate though, i guarantee they don't have that much tied up in it, but they also know that they can hang onto it and if you don't buy it someone else will.
I seriously believe that magazines have no clue what cars are worth....they can take great pictures of the cars, but putting values on them....not even close....

:withstupid: Those people obviousely have not checked the used vette market lately.

You told me your red car was belching smoke when you first started it after a long time!
