I've been using Amoco Ultimate (93) for a good while, but today I put in Marathon/Ashland 93 just to break with tradition. No Chevron stations in town else I would give it a try. Haven't tried Shell lately.
p.s. BP/Amoco claims to have extra Butane in their Ultimate (93), supposed to help with cold starts and warm up, but... what effect does extra butane in gasoline have on the performance of the car? Gonna take a true guru to answer this one :yesnod:

i would buy sunoco 94 it they sold it near my house. i dont think they sell it in atlanta. i run amoco93 in every gas engine i have, truck, cars, tractor, lawn mowers, boat...
highest i can get is 91...anywhere. but i like chevron.
:withstupid: And I hate 91 octane :mad ...regardless I have to use 95% of the time and I always get Chevron too. Although the other 5% (when I'm in Nevada with the vette) I get to go to the Union 76 station and get Competition 100 to mix with the stupid 91

Re: Favorite gasoline poll (JSA 007)
There are a select few 76 stations around in CA that sell hi-octane racing fuel. Supposedly i have one in San Luis Obispo, but they don't sell it anymore.
I found the directory listing online... don't remember where though.
I have to ask those that run the 91 (or lower) octane in their cars...how do they run? I had read that these cars were supposed to have a minimum of 93 octane in order to run properly due to the higher compression ratios and such. Do you experience pinging in the motor? Just curious.
As far as brands go, I like to use Sunoco 94 when I can, but will typically fill up with Mobil 93 octane.
Hey rubyred93,
In my owner's manual it states: Your engine is designed to operate on premium grade unleaded fuel. However, with the electronic spark control system, you may use either middle or regular grade unleaded fuel at slightly reduced acceleration performance.
My car does not ping on 91 octane but it's possible that the ECM is retatrding my timing a little. I have not tried mid or lo grade fuel.
Have a great weekend!
That is interesting; thanks for the clarification. :)
