" I'm running Firestone Firehawk SZ50. Rear R17/285/40, Front R17/285/40. Same size on all fours. Looks great.
I highly recommend these tires. They completely run circles around the stock Goodyears. I know because I've raced auto-cross on both. They stick better than BF Goodrich Comp T/As and appear to have a good tread life so far. They also stick well on cold pavement. "
I just bought my second set, they look cool, the arrowhead looking tread gives great rain traction and when once they heat up they have awesome dry grip. They're a good deal compared to the other options too.
I agree with Lone Ranger. They stick and look mean. I saved alot going though The Tire Rack ( thetirerack.com ), Then spent my savings triing to find some one mount tires bought from someone else. I have them on my '89 wouldn't go back to Goodyear.
I have the SZ50's on my 16" wheels and use them to go racing, and have those on the rear vs the 17" with the Eagle GSC's. The SZ50's grip a LOT more then the eagles, and I just wish they'd be cheaper, then I'd buy a set for my 17's.. I like them a lot...
Wet traction with them I thought was great. I thought they were a little challenged hooking up dry. Out of all the different tires I have owned I think they were my favorites.
I have the SZ50 285/40/17s on all four on my car and I can tell you the Firestones are far superior to the Goodyears I took off in every respect :yesnod:
Absolutely marvelous in the rain. Set the cruise on 100 - yeah, yeah, I've heard - and roll! 60' rooster tails, a wall of water behind you 200 feet long. Sticks like glue. Hug on the dry as well. I bought them for their wet weather performance. The dry is just a bonus. Apper to be wearing well also.
