If you are replacing with the same shocks as the rear it is not absolutely necessary as long as the rears are in good shape. However, if it was me I would replace all four. If your rear are worn and getting a little soft then it may throw off the balance of your car. If you do the work yourself (replacing the shocks is easy on C4s), then you should save enough money to cover the cost of rear shocks.
That makes sense. I just took it by the shop to ask a few questions and the mechanic came out and inspected my fronts. He said that they looked great but my front left bushings werent so good and could be what is causing the squeeking I hear while I go over a bump. Does anyone know what it will run to get that taken care of? And if so is there a reputable place in San Diego to get that kind of work done?

Never replace one shock. Always in pairs, and if you need to replace the fronts and the rears are wearing down, replace all four. Go with Bilsteins because of the warranty.
Bushings, if they need replacement, it might be a good idea to go with polyurethane if you can can spare the extra cash. They last much, much longer and give better handling performance. Downside is that for ALL the bushings on the car it's somewhat expensive. If you just want to have your left, front bushing replaced I'd suggest just an OEM rubber.
