Glad he is ok, but was the nanny(ASR) on I'm just asking because I have got stuck in bad weather in my 95 and that kinda makes me wonder how safe that ASR is.
My bet is he turned ASR off. Probably without thinking.
It doesn't rain much around here and my wife is a bit of a lead foot. It was raining the day we bought the car, so I decided to give it a good test. Half way through a wet corner (wide corner, wide recovery area, no traffic, etc) I nailed it fully expecting and prepared to handle a 180+. ASR kicked in, ABS kicked in, it felt like I hit a tree and the car easily completed the corner. I was convinced ASR works and my wife won't end up in a ditch.
No, I didn't fire him. He is a great tech and was not found at fault by the police. He may have lacked good judgement, but not career limiting.
Believe me, he is beating himself up over it!
I think you made a good desision! A lot of people let there emotions make bad desisions and would jump all over the guy for it.... Crap happens
Those wide tires on Vettes hold pretty well on dry roads. But on wet pavement they slip fairly easily and once they do there's no stopping the slide. I'm ALWAYS slow on curves in wet weather. Too many times have started to slip. :nono:
Sorry to hear that. I learned early on that in the rain, you gotta drive these cars like there's an egg under the gas pedal, especially when the tires are cold.
I'm going to assume that this was someone elses car, right? Please tell us how the owner of the car is feeling right now. I'm glad to hear your employee is OK, but if it was my car, there would be hell to pay...
Hey guys,
Thanks for the best wishes for my tech. He is a great guy and feels really bad about it.
The car had not been sold yet, as the tech was just starting on the reconditioning process prior to the car being advertised.
It was an LT1 car auto trans.
I would find it hard to believe the ASR was on, but he thinks it was.
