Default Coolant Overflow Tank

I have noticed, over the past several weeks, that the area around the coolant overflow tank gets quite damp with coolant residue especially after a hard hot drive or an autox event. I haven't noticed any loss of coolant affecting engine temperatures or guage temperatures, and the overflow tank remains full. I'm wondering whether the dealer that sold me the car seven weeks ago just overfilled the cooling system, and the cooling system is just blowing out the excess. I've had the car seven weeks, and it has been to three autox practices for an average total of 20 runs at each event. It was a warm day in the mid-70s today, and I was making some nearly back to back runs this afternoon. Some of my friends with C4s also seemed to indicate that loosing coolant out of the top of the overflow tank was a symptomatic problem at an autox event with a C4.

Just sounds a little full to me. Keep an eye on it... and keep your engine coolant temp showing on your dig display like i always do.

Check the hose clamp on the line to the cooling system. Don't ask me why this comes to mind :mad

Yup. I had the system flushed and the clamp for the overflow hose wasn't on right. Top of the bottle would get wet and it would leave a small puddle on the ground. Once the clamp was fixed no more problems with the overflow. Dry as a bone now.
