13" brake upgrade help
i tried to call jeff at superior performance and he does not answer the phone anymore :)
in his articles said something about have to make a caliper bracket
anybody done this?
On an '87 you'll need:
2 calipers
2 rotors
2 caliper hanger bkts
These are all dealer/ACDelco outlet etc items.
2 adapter plates
Try these at VBP, Electrodynamics.com, or you could make your own, if you need the dimensions let me know.
And of course pads, mounting hardware, you'll probably want stainless steel lines, and someone said something about two pins, don't know about that, I haven't put it on the '84. I don't remember needing pins on my '92 when I went to G.S. mod.
Then all you need to do is decide whether you want the G.S. mod, or the ZOS C5 mod.
 on.....................
Stupid me, I meant the "ZO6" mod, not ZOS. Those keys aren't anywhere near each other.............

The calipers, roters, pads and hardware are stock GM, but the adapter brackets aren't.
Several people make them in cluding electrodynamics and Doug Rippie Motorsports.
The brackets are pricey! Not that I am suggesting "knock offs", that's illegal isn't it?
But someone with a set of brackets could probably get a local machine shop to duplicate them for around $50.00
I bought my calipers and roters out of c5 parts for sale. Lots of those guys are going to Baer and selling cheap. Even new from GM the prices aren't that bad
Check out Jeff's website at superiorchevyperformance.com
He has a complete list of the parts and prices

I'll try to do better next time

Hmmm, that should say something about the quality of braking you get.

I'm a little baffled by these (only two so far) people that are slamming the C5 front braking ability. The pads are bigger, which gives more swept area, and the rotors are thicker with better cooling fins. Could it be they are racing on street pads?

And for my friend Jack, because it's his favorite little guy , , , , ,

Ed, I think and this is not a knock. that some people are more concerned with glitz than go, or in this case, stop! The C5 brakes on the front, and I added the DRM proportioning spring, is an awesome combination.
I have had to "relearn" braking my car. I stop or reach desired turn speed twenty to thirty feet sooner now :D
Thanks :steering: :steering: :steering: :D
