Rims (small pics )
Well finaly started to polish my rims.
Not finished yet ( no more skin on my fingers ), but they look better already. :D All by hand. I just love working on the Vette in front of the house.
More talking then working sometimes.
Part 1 - Bad looking
Part 2 - Looking cleaner
Part 3 - Need sunglasses

Removed all the clear coat.
Sand it waterproof with 180,600,1000,1200
Then used a product called ALU-Belgom. Not sure if it's available in the U.S,
but it's (white) liquid and just rub it in untill the white turns black and clean it with a towel.

Randomly orbiting sanders are the trick! That's what I used, it just takes everything off fast.

Re: Rims (Mike90)
What a difference! Are you planning on re-clearing them? I'm under the impression that brake dust can embed in the aluminum without a clearcoat. Is that true?

Re: Rims (Mike90)
Mike,
Try some WD40 with your wet/dry sand paper. It will keep it from plugging and really speed up things. With WD40, you can go up to 1500grit and get a mirror finish before buffing.
