I have drove mine nearly everyday for over 5 years. It had 60,000 miles on it when I bought it, now has over 120,000 miles. I love it. Its literaly the best car I have ever owned, actually, beleive it or not, its the 1st vehicle I have ever kept long enough to pay off.
I had driven my 90 for 4 years, till I totaled it. Now I drive my 94 daily,
no problems. Just keep (GOOD RUBBER) on it, totaled mine in the rain,
bad rubber. I learned the hard way.
I knew you'd get some great responses to this topic when I first read it. Too bad I don't apply and can't tell you how reliable these cars are past 20k...
I bought mine with 70k on it and 5 yrs later have 115k on it. Its absolutely great as a daily driver. Only reason mine breaks down is because my dad abused the car and I drive it hard often. If you get it when its in great shape, it'll stay in great shape.
I wouldn't recommend driving in snow though. Mine handles like crap in it.
I Drive mine daily. Sun, rain whatever. It's a car and it's meant to be driven. With some exceptions which we won't see for some time. It's white and makes a mess! Once the roads cleared, I drove it .
It runs great... and much more reliably than some of these 'trailer queens'.
Mine has NEVER stranded me, has been to FL 3 times and is just plain reliable. I am very happy with it. I would jump into it and drive to wherever tomorrow...
drive my 94 coupe 90miles a day 5 sometime 6 days a week and i try to go every sunday to the track kind of uncomfortable for me to get in and out of but once im in i love it but my c5 was nicer!
I found that the more you drive them, the less problems you have. These cars don't like to sit around.
Prior owner had my 86 stuffed in the garage and didn’t drive it much. It paid him back by dumping it's oil on his garage floor.
I bought it, replaced the gaskets. Now it's a daily driver unless there is snow on the ground (or good chance of it). I average 250 a week on it just commuting to work. Now has 114K on it and no major issues the last 4-5 years. :chevy
Snow on the ground... Hmm, I know what ground is... What's snow?!?
Somedays I'm glad to be in Houston...
I got mine with 130,000 miles on it! It looks like it was a well taken care of 130k, and for a '93, that's 13k miles a year, and it was a daily driver.
And I got it all of SIX days ago, and I've driven it 5 of the 6! :)
I plan to keep driving it daily pretty much permanently, until they don't sell restoration parts anymore and I can't find anyone to fab handmade ones! My wife *thinks* I'm giving it to my son... Hell no, I'll get him a different one!
The thing I like the most about the C4 is it really straddles the "I can work on it myself" versus the "creature comforts and amenities" thing... It's not a C2 or C3, it's got power everything and driver's airbag, but it's not overly fuggin complicated to fix like (maybe) a C5 or some other 2003 sports car.
Hell, I just fixed the brakelight switch myself tonight, and armed only with tools and a Haynes manual!

Mostly depends on the weather if I drive it or not. Sunny and nice love taking the vette with the top off. If it rains..out comes the truck! Life is short..drive the vette!!
im doing about 9k miles a year on a 67k mile vette, drive it everyday (just isnt a good day if i dont get to drive), and shes running great. well, smelled something funny tonight, will check it out in the morning. but shes perfect otherwise!
From April 1989 untill May 2000, my 1988 red corvette coupe, Z51, 4+3, was my daily driver for 125000 miles. Best commuter car I have ever drove. Only refused to go on one occasion when the Die-hard opened an internal circuit. Handling was the best and rush hour traffic posed minimum delays.
Well, I guess I have to chime in on a negative spin.
In 97 I had to use mine as a daily driver (got divorced, kept vette, she got daily driver) now I only drive it on non-rain days.
I find the fun kinda drained from it when it was raining. I couldn't blip the throttle without being really careful and I couldn't take the roof off.
When there is decent weather, I drive the car everywhere and love it. Errand running is a bit of a pain, you have to be so careful using the back hatch to put stuff in and out to avoid scratches. Most times, I avoid it and go in thru the seats. I won't drive the vette when I know I'm going to hit some gravel roads as I don't want any more paint chips in the back (I'm NOT going to get mudflaps :U )
On the flip side, If the weatherman calls for rain, and I take my truck that day, I curse him bigtime if the sun peeks out.
Mine's not an every day driver because some days I'm on daughter detail. We all cannot fit in it. But if I'm not on dd then I drive it. So I usually drive it to work at least 3 days per week. This week and last week were 5 days a week. :)
Nobody ever said "Damn, I wish I drove the Vette less" while on their death bed.
The other negative aspect about driving the Vette everyday is that you kinda become accustomed to the power and handling to the point that it doesn't really excite you like it used to. I did notice this while mine was a daily driver. You begin wondering if the car is down on power. No, you've just gotten used to it. Now, when I drive my commuter car for a few days and hop back in the Vette it's like  DAYUM, this thing is FAST!
So, there is at least one positive to driving it less. But that may be the only one :D
I think it all depends on what you like and what you're used to. I own an '84 with the Z51 suspension. Before I bought it, everyone told me that I'll lose all the fillings in my teeth the first week due to the rough ride, but since purchasing it, I find the ride just fine. In fact, it rides and drives better than my wife's '91 Mustang, which I though rode pretty good. But I love my Vette, and plan on installing polyurethane bushings pretty soon. Another consideration is fuel mileage. I don't do too much freeway driving during the week, so my mileage really sucks, literally. I think my best all around mileage is about 11mpg, but that's nothing but street driving and stop-and-go traffic. But then again, if you're looking to drive a Vette, fuel mileage really isn't on the top of your list. It has plenty of power to get out of its own way when needed, handles like a champ, and no matter where you drive, it's a Vette. I love my '84, and if I plan on getting a new vehicle to drive, I'd probably buy another Vette. :yesnod:
