He's only a sixteen year kid! In his world neons are way Cool!
I would disagree with that, im 17 years old and Neons aren't cool to me in the least...with that said, if you want the neon lights for under your vette that is fine because after all it is YOUR vette not any of ours...but bro i would say leave the lights for the ricers and the lowered trucks, that's their style not vette style.

Re: Underbody neons (Cory00)
Let me address something
When these threads come up, why do people keep saying "It's your car, do what you want"? We all know he has a right do what he wants with his car. Just as we have the right to say what we think when asked. I personally try not to hurt anyones feelings, but I will give my opinion when asked. I kind of feel bad for the guy because this time he didn't even ask what we thought, just if it could be done. Nice welcome folks
I'm thinking that would look good. If you could find a really big bowtie sticker for the rear window, and maybe some chrome curb feelers, oh and don't forget the "My kids an honor student" bumber sticker right under the license plate. Yeah that would be cool. Maybe for special effects you could poke some holes in the mufflers, yeah thats really cool. :smash:
They should be ok as far as not hitting the ground. When you put them on they are actually up under the bottom of the car so you can't even see the bulb if you were to look straight at the car, level with the bottom of of it.
As far as rocks, certain brands have warranties against such damages cause by rocks, sticks, etc.
The worst that they could do to the car is leave a few holes where the brackets are installed to hold the bulb.
Hope this helps you out, and welcome to the forum. Don't take my earlier rice comments or other peoples comments to heart. It's all our own opinions and individual preferences are what makes the world more interesting.
Since you are thinking of putting neons on your Vette, how about some curb feelers, body color windshield wipper and body color license plate frames to finish off the look.

Cory00-
To answer your question, check out the work done by the place you are going to have install your lights. Inspect their workmanship and "engineering". Is it better than you could do? Better than your Dad/uncle/brother/cousin/friend could do?
As far as other Corvette owners LIKING the things, don't count on getting many possitive comments (uh, like the ones on this forum). Most of us don't care for them, even when they are on 'sport compact' cars. Heck, a few of us don't even care for wings and body kits on Corvettes!!!
To each his own.
(I might still wave atcha'..)
Let me start by saying welcome to the Forum. One thing you're about to find out is very few people here like neon :D To answer your question, though, you shouldn't have any problems with it bottoming out as long as it's mounted correctly.
:iagree: Just make sure that it isn't any lower than any other parts and you should be fine.
Oh my goodness... I hope you have a thick skin 'cause you're gonna get a lot of feedback!
:lurk:
Did he ever!! Wow,
Welcome to the forum. As bad as these guys might seem they are actually pretty cool and will give you very helpfull advice. I do not know much about how the lights would fit under your vette but good luck.
The neon will look tight. I know of a few areas and the have neon shows with there rides.. I have seen a few Vettes in the crowd. :yesnod:
I like a little neon for fun..
I think alot of neon would either look really gay or really cool..Depends on your choices..
Welcome to the Board I could only read halfway down because of all the helpfull hints along the way.. I made it down here to say hey and have fun with your car.. Neon is cool.. Check out the car shows.. But you have to do it right and at goodguys you will have another 16-18 year old kid that has never seen a Vette before do it..
If you want more help on this go to the audio/electronics forum here at Corvette Forum or CF for short..
Since you are thinking of putting neons on your Vette, how about some curb feelers, body color windshield wipper and body color license plate frames to finish off the look.
Or how about one of those HUGE aluminum spoilers that stick up about a foot off the rear. At least if it goes on a Vette, it will be applying downforce to the wheels that need it. It's always boggled my mind when somone puts a wing on a Civic. Don't they understand? Down force on the rear wheels of a front wheel drive car is bad... mmmkay
In my opinion, neon is Uncle Ben's at it's finest.
yea thanks every one for the input, but i really dont like the people crackin on me because im 16. and i like neons im 16 i like that kinda stuff. all i asked for if it would bottem out or casue problems. i have neons in the hatchback with my system and that looks great. and i want them under my car just rember the fact that im 16 and we show our cars off at school and i think it would look good and thats all i care about. i no most vettes are soposed to look good well im making mine look good. all i want to do is spice it up some and make it look nice wich it think it will do. thank you all for the input agin
Welcome to the forum. You just picked the wrong question to start things off with...the forum is truly awesome! Just a few sore spots here and there. As for the get crap for being young. It comes with the territory. I'm 18, and frankly I get offended by other youngsters in their vettes that don't know what its like to work and pay for it yourself, let alone respect the awesome machine they have the privelage to drive. I saw a kid at my school in a vette the one day I drove mine (I never take my baby there, way too dangerous....school=bad drivers!!!) I complimented his car and he started sizing me up, I just walked away after he asked me if I had the v6 or the v8 in my car!!! :mad :mad :mad
Some people just should be ban from the corvette world. :mad :mad
But back to topic, do what you want. Just respect your car and you'll be respected. Put a three-foot spoiler on there... R.I.P. And don't be afraid to use the forum, the wealth of knowledge is astounding.
