Im looking at a 1995 competition yellow vette.
Its an auto. with 61k miles. The dealer wants 15,900.
Is that a good price. Ive always liked red but Im not sure
if yellow would get tiring. Any thoughts on the price or color???
Offer $13,900, accept $14,500............yellow looks great, but don't be swayed with the color; check out the engine, interior, etc.....little things can cost a great deal...Good luck.
The price seems high, but it depends on the condition. If the car has recently had the expensive, consumables replaced (Optispark, waterpump, tires), then the price is still a little high but more reasonable.
You can check pricing through services such as Kelly Blue Book or http://www.kbb.com for free. More & more dealers seem to be doing little maintance or prep & push extended warranties on clean looking Vettes that are priced at top $. Then, when something breaks, they hope the warranty picks up the tab. They've made money on the sale, the warranty (& the repairs if the car comes back to their shop). Problem is, warranties won't cover maintenance, so it's best to have someone who knows Vettes check the car out for you. Little things, like pulling the air tube & checking the throttle body for crud can tell you a lot about how the car has been maintained or prepped and whether or not it's worth the asking price.
I like YELLow! :yesnod: Buy what you want. If you want a yellow, get a yellow. If it doesn't matter, then compare to others. Yellow was the second rarest color in '94 and '95 (not counting the '95 Pace Cars) and the 3 rarest in '96. If Yellow is what you want there "may" not be many available. You'll have to take that into consideration as well. Good Luck!
After owning a black '80 and black '85,I bought a Comp.Yellow'94 6spd last year and love the colour. Its not just yellow it's YELLOW! And you get a lot of complimentary remarks about the colour.
A BIG plus is that even when it's a bit dusty it still looks sharp whereas the black cars look like crap unless they are spotless.I loved the black cars but a hell of a lot more work to keep clean-anyone with a black Vette will tell you that.I still like black on a Vette very much -but love the Yellow. And as others have said they are relatively rare. ;) :flag :hurray:
Yellow...I love Yellow if I ever need a paintjob....bet your azz its gonna be yeller.. :reddevil
I've been thinking about the same thing. The polo green on my 91 isn't doing a damn thing for me. I've been thinking about EB or Comp Yellow. my only big concern is the idea of still seeing green every time I'm underneath the car. Dumb stuff like that bugs me.
The question is DO YOU like yellow? But since you asked. I don't like yellow, belongs on a taxi and School buses , :D So priced doesn't matter to me, I would not even consider it. JMO
However, with 61,000 miles, I would say the price is ok, I would counter with $15,000 if that is the one for you.
We like Yellow. I hate the common colors like red, black, white ect. We had a Polo 95, have the GS  , and have the new MY C5. I would love to get a 95 Yellow ZR1
