When installing a hardtop on a convertable,do you have to remove the soft top or do you install brackets over the top of the soft top hinges behind seat?
If you wanted too..you could take the soft top off. I have had my hard top on since January and I just have it lowered like the top was down. The hard top bolts onto the frame at the B piller with the five bolts.
If you have any other questions...just ask
The two braces or bars that hold the back of the top down have two holes that look like they line up with the hinge that the soft top is bolted to the car with. Just bought the top and hardware and left it with the painter.
The brackets you are talking about fit just fine with soft top just down or removed. I would only remove the top if it was going to be down like for a year or more and i would store it opened if you got room somewhere.
