has anyone done custome fiberglassing in the interior of their car? I'm looking to possibly create a custom dash, center counsel, and the interior portion of the doors. I'm looking for information on how to create colds, fiberglass techniques etc.
Check over in Audio/Electronics section of this forum.....several of those guys do extensive fiberglass work when making speaker enclosers/custom mounts for the rear of their cars.
A bit of advice, don't attempt a dash for your first thing.
My friend and I build custom car audio stuff with glass, and we're slowly learning tricks here and there to make it better. I'll help you with whatever you need help with, but fiberglass is difficult to work with, I won't lie to you.
It takes lots and lots of patience. Feel free to IM or email me if you have questions.
I just made a panel to replace my acrylic top using fiberglass. I would suggest using the cloth as opposed to the mat. It came out fairly well but needs a little work to be nice. Another tip if you are trying this for the first dont "paint" the resin on, dab it into the cloth. This will prevent unwanted stretching of the cloth. However sometimes it needs to streched to lay flat on tight corners. You also need acetone, mixing and measuring containers, and some cheap paint brushes. Also if you have a mold you dont want to ruin using tin foil makes a nice barrier.
