Clean engine - thanks jackdaroofer
The black plastic parts under the hood were pale and had some kind of film on them, which was 50% worn off - everything looked bad.
I got some advice here and jackdaroofer and others told me to spray everything with Armorall Foaming Tyre Cleaner - the results -

Isn't armor all the product everyone should avoid because it causes plastics to crack???........... :confused:

I just used some foaming tire cleaner on mine yesterday. It made a difference, but not as big a difference as what you got.
