The PKE on my 93 locks the doors with the key in the ignition. It didn't do this last year now I have to carry a second key with me incase it locks me out. Any ideas why it is doing this?????

Dunno but mine did it once. Fortunately it happened @ home, so i fetched the spare PKE xmitter and unlocked it. Come to think of it, i think I replaced the little lithium watch battery in the PKE xmitter (transmitter) and it hasn't done it since.
The only times my '94 locked its doors with the key in the ignition I was NOT in the car. But thanks to having read here on the Forum what to do should that happen, I was not locked out.
Just shake the car and it will "wake" the PKE up and the doors will unlock. It's really cool .... everyone will think you're crazy but it does work.
So, if you leave the keys in the car, it's NOT supposed to lock? I'm going to have to read the manual again. Yesterday, my wife got out of the car to run into the store, I stayed in the car. The car locked almost immediately after she got out, with the keys still in the ignition but turned off.
Then I started testing. So far, shaking the car doesn't do anything. I've tried it more than once. I'll try the suggestion in the post above, but I have a brand new FOB I just got from GMpartsdirect.com. I'll post here if I figure out what's going on with it.
Edit: Ok, this time I tried shaking the car with the keys still in the ignition. It sounded like it tried to unlock the doors right away. Maybe that's the difference? When I had left them lying on the console, it didn't seem to work.
