I have a 1996 lt1 with passive entry. Does anyone know how to turn it off without disengauging it? So the buttons still work ( ie trunk and doors). Is this even possible? So you can use keyless entry but not having the doors open every time you walk by. :auto: :blueangel:
As far as I have been able figure out .... When it is turned off it is off ... It will not work like most remote lock openers. If someone knows anything different please let us know!
BTW - The hatch will still open no matter what setting it is on as long as it is programed.
(to deactivate stand next to a door and hold the door button down for more than 2 seconds ... until it cycles ... you will hear it cycle)
After you deactivate, as 96TRC stated, the remote will open the hatch & the pass/door only. You'll have to use the key for the drivers door. It's not the same breed as most remotes.

I am endlessly entertained by this feature. Passenger door only. Who is this helping? I open the door for the ladies, everyone else can wait.
GM obviously has some deadwood to trim if there's pinheads sitting around with nothing better to do than dream this useless crap up.
I guess it has it's shortcomings, but when I want to get into my other car & have to put packages on the ground to fumble for the keys I always think...Damn I wish this thing had a corvette system.......... :steering: :steering: :steering: :steering:
