Default Strange problem -- need help

Last night I went out in the vette, it had been raining, the lights popped up normally. Went into the store came out the left light didn't come up, tried it a few times, then open the hood, tried it a few more times, nothing. Droped the hood tried it and the light popped up! Got home turned the lights off then back on the left stayed down. Today, tried it and it popped up. What could cause this to happen? I've checked the connections.

Sounds like you might need to rebuild the motor. Don't know what year yours is, but the earlier motors are notoriuos for going out. The bushings turn to dust. Your opening and closing probably knocks the gear to just the right spot to work that one time.

I had the same problem for awhile, turned out the bolts that hold the whole assembly to the hood had loosened up just enough to let it move and bind.
I hope it is something that simple for you.

Can you still turn them by hand if the gears and bushing in the motor are shot? Doesn't seem to me that would work?

Thanks for the replies, I have a 93. It has been raining all day so I haven't been out playing with it yet.
