Default Balancing problems W/Afs?

Has anyone ever had troubles with AFS, and getting wheels/tires in a package that were wayyyy off balance??

Well, I had a shimmy in the front end, around 63MPH, that was never there, with the stock rims. So, I called AFS, and they told me a couple things, but, it came down to me bringing them to a local shop with a Hunter Balancing System. I did that, yesterday, and the guy was AMAZED at how bad my front wheels were. I had weights stacked 3 piles high, and not even hidden behind the spokes... So, he started from scratch ,and got them RIGHT. But, what I'm wondering now is should I have my rears looked at?? This is how they came, from AFS:
I'm not bashing AFS in any way, they've been great, and are paying me back for the balancing, I'm just nervous now, that the rears are way off... Can it cause any problems??

By the way, before I got these, I had NEVER seen, or heard of this tire, and I must say I'm 100% happy with them. GREAT look, and very aggressive tires!!

Here's another shot, of one of my fronts ON the car, you can see a couple of the weights poking through. Now, is it me, or should these be hidden???

Cant really "hide" wheel weights when you are balancing wheels. The weights need to go where it is needed to provide a good balance. Sometimes those areas are in the open.

Ouch. That's the same answer I got from AFS :). Well, they aren't HIDDEN now, on the front wheels that have been rebalanced, but, the amount of weights on the wheel are about 60% less!!!!

Have I got a thread for you :) http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=510861

AFS ended up sending me 4 new wheels and tires (the wheels were not the problem... was just easier that way) and footed the bill for shipping. Customer service was outstanding.

Although the current set is balanced much, much better than the original I can't really vouch for the Kumho's. I still get odd (although very minor) vibrations at certain speeds over 90mph. I can swap out with my original rims and Bridgestone RE730's and the vibration disappears.

I'll burn off this set and probably go with a different brand than Kumho next time.

EDIT: From the tread pattern on your tire it looks like a Pirelli P7000 (Supersport?). I had a set of these on one of my other cars and other than getting louder as they wore they were fine.

If you happen to lose balance again it is due to your stick on wheel weights lol.. I recommend tap on static balance.. Static means inside only.. but hey what do I know.. LOL By the way I have the Afs zo6 wheels 18in with the kumho's as well.. bought the wheels seperate and had the tires mounted and balanced myself.. less vibration than stock afterward..
