Went through the burger king drive thru today to grab a quick sandwich. Had to sit in line for about ten minutes. Temp went up to 214, did'nt think much about it. When I pulled out my car was running real rough, like it was on 7 cylinders. I thought maybe a plug fouled while I was sitting and thought it might clear up, but it has'nt.
After I left, temps went down to normal, 179-180, oil pressure good, no codes, no service engine light. Everything seemed fine except the car running rough. Thought about the MAF but don't think it was running that badly. Car is an 88 L98. Just had the injectors cleaned and it has been running great.
Still having the problem? Check your plug wires. I had the same problem at one point and it turned out a plug wire had fallen out of it's holder onto the header and shorted out.

Had the same thing happen to me. I put electrical tape on it till I got it fixed.
Watch the engine run in the dark and you can see it jumping spark.
:chevy
I had this problem once.....and believe it or not it was a loose spark plug....surprised me.....guess it was leaning the engine out.....
Hope this might help you...
