90 Conv. - Looking to improve audio. Radio reception is terrible. Sound from a cassette is not very impressive. Don't want to change factory appearance of radio. Where should I start? (speakers?) Is there a radio reciever that canbe replaced? Is there also a power unit built into the dash (looks like it is real hard to get at) that powers the radio? Anybody try an FM modulated CD changer? My concern with this is that I don't get good radio reception to start with, so this option may be a waste until I fix the poor reception problem.
Only thing I can comment on is the FM modulated CD changer.
When I bought my 1995 it was cassette only. I added a 10 disc Sony changer that worked great. The changer fit nicely over the jack. I removed the tray above the jack. A couple of years later I found a cd/cassette OEM combo and did away with the CD changer.
I have an Alpine FM mod changer. The changer works great, but the stock (1994) radio does not have much power. I first changed just the speakers, but the unit didn't have enough power to drive them properly. Last weekend, I installed a new Stereo, and it made all the difference.
