Here's a silly one, all the real mechanics will be  on this question.....Does the bolt at the rear window simply turn counterclockwise to get loose? Seems like I'm forcing it and don't want to bust up anything. What is the procedure to remove the 15mm bolt there, so I can replace the hatch shocks? Thanks, and don't laught too hard! :D
There's nothing like being a schizo & answering your own questions :lolg:
What I did to solve my problem was to realize I didn't have a problem  So what I did was: (1) drink 5 beers, then (2) look closer at each end of the struts and see that there are clips that you simply use a flathead screwdriver to pop & remove.......man what a retard I was to even ask this stupid question   Now new shcoks are on and it they work like a charm :D have a great evening everybody :seeya Now time for a couple more beers :) :) :)
I just replaced mine on my '84....very simple......although at first I was stumped....but someone on the forum told me what to do.....bolts....twist...pull...reverse to reinstall new struts....
Now it works great.....press the button and up it pops....
Watch the glass....prop it or have someone hold it for you.....and watch out for the connectors for the rear window defrosters...or you will tear the connections...
Hope I've helped....
Easy job....alot easier than you think.....
Guess I was a bit on the anul side in doing mine......
Good Luck
