$21K for a 1990?
My brother-in-law just purchased a 90 with only 9K miles on it for 21K. It's a 6-speed, vert, and all options offered in '90. The car is in fantastic shape....always kept in the garage under cover, etc.
What do ya think?

For $21k it sounds like it's a ZR-1?
:steering:
*edit* re-read it.. convertible so it's not a ZR-1.
I think he payed about $8,000 too much... But a Vette is always a good deal if you are happy with what you payed.

The book on the car is $18,500 maybe more with options. the way I look at that car is if he puts 10,000 mi a year on it in for the next 10 year's he still has a car with only 109,000 mi on it. still worth $5,000! So it cost him about $1300 a year to drive a wicked nice car! :flag

I didn't see anything about a ZR1.What are you talking about?
It's nice to see that some vettes are selling for a good solid price like that. I cant even get interest at $5000 for my 86 around here.
Kelley Blue Book values the car at $11,110... But a car is worth what someone will pay for it. So this one was obviously worth more.

Any car value is going to drop like a rock if u put on the miles .Whats your point?
I also had a chance to buy a '95 with 6300 miles on it for $23K, for comparison purposes. But, it wasn't a 6 spd vert either.

William, I paid $11k for my 90 with 62k miles on it. I considered that top dollar, however I had no problem because its in supreme condition all the way around AND it was exactly what I wanted top to bottom. Its one of those in the low-mid mileage area for the age of the car.
The 90 you're referring to, although ultra-low mileage, is way way too high in price. Unfortunately, its competing against much newer vettes in that price range. I think about $14k, $15k tops (I would be very hard pressed to pay $15k), is the going value, assuming NOTHING is wrong with it (hard to suppose, the super low mileage would actually scare me). Of course, the area of the country you reside in has much to do with price too. At any rate,
I'm sorry to say your brother-in-law really paid way too much. Best thing now would be that he just hold on to it for many years to come.

But, its value is gonna drop like a rock if he drives it. :(
It doesn't make sense to spend that much money on a low mileage car and then put lots of miles on it.. A car with 9k miles is more of a investment if it gets stored and not driven too much.. You can get very nice C4 drivers for much less without worrying about reducing the value...

Low mile cars bring more money, Fact! If your bother wanted a low mile weekend car and he likes what he got I would say it is a good deal for him. I prefer low mile cars to something that someone might have run to death and you think you’re getting something that was babied.
It is not going to hurt the value of the car for him to use for a weekend toy as long has he keeps in mint shape and continues to hold the miles down.
It's hard to tell someone here at the forum that they got a real good deal or paid to much do to the prices change in different areas of the country. I would say it sounds a little high for my area do to I looked at a vert loaded 1996 with 5,500 mile and it was mint and the guy wanted $24,900.00. I think it was worth the money, but that just me.
It all comes down to he got the vette he wanted and he enjoys what he got
Post us some Pics of his new ride!!

It's about what they go for for a LOW milage vert, but I'd go for a GS with a bit higher milage. just my 2 cents.

Point of reference: in September I paid ~24k for my '90 ZR1 with 16k miles.
