I'm surprised with over 28 views that no one replied to this yet??? :confused: I got an 87 but wish I could help ya. Maybe you'll get some luck soon. :cheers:
If it attaches like the aftermarket plates;
You should be able to just take a razor blade, and side it under there to remove it. I would just take my time in doing it, and attempt not to bend the plate in the process.
If it affixs another way, I don't know exactly how to do it.
Worst case scenario, you could always buy a new one from Eckler's they run around $10
I have my Select ride and my power seat buttons on my console. there must be some screws some place but I can't seem to find them. not sure if i'm supposed to take my gear shift boot off first and i'm not sure how to do that.
oh you mean the WHOLE plate
there should be a screw in each corner (4 all together). You dont have to remove the shift boot, but the wiring for everything will come with it, but the clips should be reachable one you get the screws out.
I think it's like mine:
Open the center console, peel the felt back a little. You should find two screws under there. Remove them. Next, there should be a screw in one of the cup holders (you may have to remove the rubber liner).
You'll have to remove the radio bezel also. The bottom is held in with clips, but there is at least one screw (I can't remember if there's one or two) in the A/C vent that holds the top of the bezel on. Remove the screw(s) and pop the bezel off. Next remove the last two screws under the radio that hold the console on.
