My drive to Carlisle and back this weekend drove me INSANE with the squeaking roof. Finally yesterday I took the forum's advice and found the time to tighten the brackets on the roof. Holy crap! One of them was so loose that the bracket jiggled around. No wonder installing the roof was such a hit-or-miss procedure. I don't have it quite adjusted to my liking (too much gap on the driver side gasket), but holy hell what a difference. I felt like I just traded my 81 malibu in for a 2003 lexus. :D All nice and quiet on the way to work today!
The two on the front of the glass top that allow you to move the hole that the bolt in the roof threads into.
Of course... tonight I decided to fool with it to try and adjust it. Big mistake.
I quickly discovered that there's no way in hell to figure out where the best position is without a whole lot of trial and error, and that there's no way to losen the bolts without the whole damned piece sliding all over the place. After 40 minutes of screwing with it (20 in the dark), I finally got it good enough that I can at least tighten the damn bolts again. I guess I'll screw with it some more tomorrow. :mad

Damn! You know what? This weekend, for the first time since getting my glass top, I took it off, and took my daughter for a ride down by the ocean... I was noticing that the top was rattling around in the back, something fierce, so I thought I just hadn't clipped it in properly... Well, I put the roof on, quickly cause I thought it was gonna rain, and I was driving home, listing to the same noise you were hearing... The two front brackets were so lose, they were just floating around!!!!!!!! So, I tightened them, and it's great now!!

Re: No more squeaky roof! (Jim85IROC)
  I can't believe it! My top has rattled when it's in the hatch since the day I bought it over 3 years ago. I just went out to the garage to check and sure enough, the drivers side alignment pin was flopping around. Another 5 minute fix that I wish I knew about 3 years ago.
