While true the manual tranny aws all you could get with the LT4, you could also get a 6 speed with the LT1.

So does that mean that my '95 has special value knowing that it was the last year you could get the LT-1 in a 6-speed?? :( ....didn't think so. Oh well. :jester

Geez, I get it! :D Not ONE of my books mentions anything about 6 speeds available only with the LT4. Oh well, live and learn. But why would certification have been such a big deal with the LT1 when it was certified for the previous 4 years?

First year of OBDII required brand new certification for evey combo. As a result GM dropped the ZR1 a year early. Since both the LT1/auto trans and the LT4/ZF6 each have to be certified, GM made those the only two combos available.

"LT1 engines were mated to only automatic transmissions....."
This is for the '96, of course.
