Hello,
I need some help with my AC on my 84 Vette. The car only has 35K miles on it and the AC doesn't get cold anymore. I have the converter kit to take it from R-12 to R-134. Does any one know if it will work on a vette. Also do you know where the low pressure input valve is located? Second question, the fan does not blow as strong as it did in the past. Is their any things that I can check to troubleshoot the problem? Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated.
I also have an '84......took it to a professional....had to replace my a/c unit...works great now.......I stuck with R-12....seems to cool better, according to old posts here...

The 134 works just as well as the r12 if converted properly. After the system is emptied install a new orfice tube preferably the auto adjustiung style, this greatly helps when sitting still or at low speeds, replace the reciever drier to minimize any contamination of moisture in the sytem. The low pressure port is on the drier assembly. Whwn you have the system recharged ask them to evacuate the system for a minimum of 1 hour before injecting oil and freon, this also helps to remove any moisture and air the biggest enemy of an ac system. As far as the blower speed could be the motor getting tired, you can check to insure its getting full power through the resistor block to it but most likely you will probably find the motor is just getting weak and needs replacement.
