Do you here the Power antenna motor run? if so, it is more then likely time for a new Antenna mast, since the rip cord in the mast might have become brittle and finally broke
I arrived to work this morning and my electronic antenna will not retract. I've tried everything. Please does anyone know what I can do?
The mast could be gummed up to the point where the motor thinks the mast is already down because of the resistance.
I would try cleaning the mast with WD-40, and have a friend push gently down on the mast while you swich the radio on and off. If it goes down, raise it back up again and apply WD-40, leave wet, then retract. Repeat.
If a section of ribbon has broken off into the antenna motor housing, threading a new ribbon down the hole won't work. You'll have to remove the motor, open the case, remove the broken section of ribbon, THEN insert the new mast in order to fix the problem.
Search in C-4 Tech Tips on the Forum. I wrote a detailed article on how to fix this commom problem. Oh, and welcome to the Forum! :seeya
Power windows & power antennas never work for long, I don't care who built the car. I've fixed both windows on my Corvette, haven't got around to the antenna yet. I guess I'm one of those guys...
spit on it!
:D
someone said in an earlier post that it could be pushed down manually.
then just play cds :)
think theres a antenna tech tip on how to deal with repairing it.try a search.
good luck
Just my own thoughts....time to replace the antenna assy.
easy enough....upgrades avilable from everyone...like ZIP Products.....Corvette Central...etc. etc. etc.
Just doing it may give you a problem.....not easy to replace.....been there done that...it happens when you least expect it......Right?????
Good Luck
