I think a couple of people are working on a quicker/easier way to remove and re-install the top on the C4 coupe. Discussions have been about adapting either a lever, or some type of ****, to replace the ratchet tool that most of us now use. Obviously there's some anticipation, and probably quite a large market for a quicker mechanism.
We all hope the final product is worth the wait! :D
the other night I had an epiphany at about 2 am, i got up went to my shop and figured it out. I'm just doing some fine tuning now and trying to make the whole thing a little more compact.
it's going to take a little while yet, however i think that i now have a working unit.(although crude at this point)
You know what I think I'd like best? A contraption that bolts into the stock spot (using stock hardware for all I care), that will then accept some normal t-tops (maybe thirdgen units if the shape/size is right). Then my car wouldn't feel like a wet noodle over bumps, and pulling the top(s) off would be much easier. :)
You should check out the Targa Truss from RD, basically what you're looking to accomplish, but T-tops don't fit I don't think. http://www.r-dracing.com/targa-truss.htm
