MY CLUSTER STAYS LIT (ORANGE) BUT SOMETIMES LOOSES ALL INFO ON THE DISPLAY. IF I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, OR FOR NO REASON, THE INFO COMES BACK ON. PLEASE HELP! THANKS.
start checking connections.sounds like you got a loose one somewhere.
i'd start at the batt compartment and work to the firewall, then over to the fuse panel and seat all fuses there.
got any weight hanging on the key?switch could be going out. try a piece of tape pulling on the ignition and see if that stops it...
erratic electrical can be a nightmare.
i hope someone here has had the identical problem.
have you checked for codes yet?
Mine did the same thing, it was one of the soldered connections on the back of the electrical board of the cluster. I had the same symptoms as you've described. I re-soldered and have had no more problems with it, thats been about 4 years ago.
My 92 did the same thing it was the main connector that goes to the speedo all the connector were loose.
The fix was to "re crimp" the ends so they made a good contact with in the plug. :seeya
was it pins that you re-crimped on the back of the digital display, or in the housing, and would it be better to solder these contacts?
i'm going into my dash this weekend to replace the heater core, so i figure to kill two birds with one stone since i'll be digging around this "funhouse" anyway.
thanks
